Barry Schipplock

Managing Consultant

Barry has held a number of strategic marketing and operational roles across a broad industry spectrum with organisations in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. His roles have included Executive and Non-Executive Directorships, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Executive Officer, reporting to and working with boards of directors and international, national and state based teams.

Of significance is the nine-year period in which he was a Director and Chief Operations Officer for CAMEO, Australia's leading Association Management Company. During this period, he had the lead role in the management of several of CAMEO‚Äôs clients all of which had strategic, financial and governance responsibilities stretching over a wide geographic area. His operational boundaries extended beyond all states of Australia to the United States, Taiwan and the UK. His activity centred around greenfield projects, delivering professional services to new geographic areas, in Australia and overseas, and introducing new service solutions to existing clients and their stakeholders.

In 2003, under Barry's direction, CAMEO became Australia's first internationally Accredited Association Management Company. 

Following the sale of CAMEO in 2009, he founded NFP Consultancy Services, a firm providing contract consulting and association management services to the not for profit sector. NFP Consultancy Services is currently  a Provisional Member of the Association Management Company Institute [AMCI] and will be undertaking their rigorous accreditation program during the second half of 2018.

He has served on the following Not For Profit sector boards and Contracted Senior Executive roles:

  • Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Group 61, a DGR charity supporting persons with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).  

  • Director, Company Secretary and ex officio CFO of Community Housing Providers Ltd (CHPs). 

  • Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Aphasia Association, leading their corporate and financial restructures, merger strategies, ERP and digital engagement projects.

He will bring to your organisation an extensive toolbox of expertise and experience gained from within the commercial and not for profit sectors and as leader of various health and community services organisations. His leadership roles have presented him with challenges that required a balance of courageous integrity and diplomacy to successfully influence and drive change.
